Who this is for

This service is for Year 12 and Year 13 students (and gap-year applicants) applying to medical school in the UK. It is suitable for students sitting the UCAT for the first time and for retakers looking to improve their score. No prior UCAT preparation is needed — we start with a diagnostic session to understand exactly where you are.

The credential that matters

I sat the UCAT as part of my own medical school application and scored in a competitive range. More importantly, I now understand what the test is actually testing — clinical decision-making aptitude, not just IQ. That means I can teach strategy rather than just drilling practice questions. I also understand how medical schools weight UCAT scores differently, and can help you target your preparation to the universities on your list.

How it works

Diagnostic session

We begin with a full timed mock to identify your baseline score and section-by-section strengths.

Targeted preparation

We focus first on your weakest sections with specific strategy, worked examples and timed drills.

Regular sessions

Weekly sessions building speed and accuracy. Each session includes practice, review and strategy refinement.

Final mock + review

A full mock exam under timed conditions, with written feedback and final strategy for test day.

I was dreading the UCAT — I had no idea where to start. Izem structured everything perfectly and her knowledge as a doctor made the SJT section finally make sense. I scored in the top 10% and got offers from both my first-choice universities.

Frequently asked

When should I start UCAT preparation?

Ideally 8–12 weeks before your exam date. The UCAT is typically sat in July–September of Year 12 (for Year 13 entry) or the summer/autumn of your gap year. Starting earlier gives more time for deliberate practice and avoids last-minute cramming.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your baseline score and target. Most students do well with 8–15 sessions over 8–12 weeks, but we can discuss a more tailored plan after the initial diagnostic session.

Do you use official UCAT practice materials?

Yes — we use the official UCAT practice tests as the primary resource, supplemented with additional materials for specific sections. The official tests are the most accurate representation of what you will face on exam day.

Can you help with UCAT and personal statement preparation at the same time?

Yes — many students work on both simultaneously during Year 12 and the summer before Year 13. I can structure sessions to cover both, and I often find it useful to interleave them since your personal statement and UCAT both contribute to the same goal.
