Izem Ozavci
I am a qualifying doctor at University College London (MBBS 2026) and a private tutor with over five years of one-to-one experience in West London. Before medicine, I completed a BSc in Biomedical Sciences at UCL, graduating with First Class Honours.
I started tutoring as an undergraduate — initially to support students with GCSE and A-Level sciences, and over time expanding into UCAT preparation and medical school applications as I progressed through my own medical training. Every year, the work gets more interesting.
I work with students across West London and online across the UK. My sessions are always tailored — I do not use standard programmes or off-the-shelf materials. Everything is built around the specific student, their exam board, their timeline and their goals.

Teaching philosophy
Understand the student first
Every student learns differently. Before I teach anything, I try to understand how a student thinks, where they are confident and where they are not. That is what makes the difference between sessions that feel productive and sessions that actually are.
Build understanding, not just exam technique
Exam technique matters — but students who genuinely understand a subject will always outperform those who have simply memorised answers. I teach the reasoning behind the material, not just the surface content.
Honest, specific feedback
Generic praise does not help anyone. I give specific, honest feedback on what is working and what is not — on essays, personal statements, exam answers and technique. Students deserve to know exactly where they stand.
